President Traian Basescu on Friday welcomed President and CEO of Renault-Nissan Carlos Ghosn, at the Cotroceni Presidential Palace, to learn about the development plans of the company for the years ahead, which include keeping the activity of the exiting factory in Pitesti, southern Romania, at least at its current level.
Ghosn gave assurances that the business plan of Renault for the period immediately ahead provides for developing manufacturing at Tanger, Morocco, and Togliatti, Russian Federation, without affecting the business of the Pitesti factory, but he added that any future development in the activity of the factory will greatly depend on the developments in the competitiveness and productivity of all the factories, the Romanian Presidential Administration reports.
Ghosn also informed President Basescu that the Pitesti factory set a production record of 343,000 automobiles this year.
He also thanked President Basescu for constant support during the economic and financial crisis.
At the end of the meeting, the President bestowed a Romania's Star in rank of Commodore order on Ghosn as a token of appreciation for Ghosn's contribution to improving the efficiency of the Romanian automotive industry. AGERPRES
