WUKF Romania official Crisan: By holding WUKF karate European Championships we advertise Romania

 •  English

Chairman of Romania's Karate Federation (FRK WUKF), a member of the World Union of Karate-Do Federations (WUKF), Liviu Crisan told AGERPRES on Thursday that by hosting the FRK WUKF European Championships for all ages in the northwestern city of Cluj-Napoca, the association is advertising Romania well.

''This is the 9th edition of the European championships, and we have managed to bring it to Cluj-Napoca; we are glad to have athletes from 26 countries; there are more than 1,800 athletes, 86 referees, 190 coaches and trainers. This is a competition that brings new people, so to say, to Cluj, as many of the contesters have never been here before. We have received positive appreciation over the city, its infrastructure, the Polyvalent Hall, which is spectacular. So, I am saying that as well as advertising Cluj well, we are advertising Romania also. I believe we have done a very important thing, especially because the local officials have understood and helped us the best they could,'' said Crisan.

Spokesman for FRK WUKF Constantin Andrei told AGERPRES that more than 1,000 under-15s will be competing in the event.

''Some 1,000 of the contesters are children and mini cadets, meaning aged under 15 years. Today is the day for veteran, senior, junior and cadet's events and so is tomorrow. Today is the day of veteran's finals, while tomorrow is the day of cadet's finals and Sunday will be the day of senior and junior's finals, the most spectacular ones. The official opening is scheduled for tomorrow at 18:30hrs, EEST, and it includes a special show staged by Untold, a partner and sponsor of the event. We are welcoming all, as admission is free,'' the spokesman said.

April 6-9, the Polyvalent Hall of Cluj-Napoca hosts the 9th edition of the FRK WUKF European Championships for all ages, orgnaised by the Romanian WUKF Karate Federation.
